We have since spoken to the manager who was most surprised and assured us it was blip and not usual, we shall see
Had a meal for four at the Unicorn in July 2010 and it was a disaster from start to finish. There was only one member of bar staff so there was always a delay to get a drink. We had to order our meal 3 times before they got the order right and the main course when it arrived was very poor. On going to the bar to order a sweet (as they didn't come and ask us) the barman asked if I wanted the bill and huffed and puffed when I asked for a pudding. There was noone in charge of the restaurant on the night. We have since tried to contact the Unicorn to speak to the manager to voice our disappointment but he has failed / refused to contact us back even though we have left a number of messages for him. Sadly this restaurant was recommended to us but we will not be recommending it to anyone else except to tell them to give it a wide berth. This is the first time I have felt strongly enough to post such a negative comment in a guest book. Extremely disappointed.
If the service in th epub is anything like the service when you ring up to book I would give it a wide berth. Really rude when trying to book a table. The male who answered the phone said he was to busy to sort out where wanted to sit
Try the Church Inn at thr Buttercross
Nice place. Enjoyed the beer,Cleric's Cure from Three Tuns beautiful..shame it ran out on us :)))
Had dinner on Christmas day, it was excellent and one of the most enjoyable Christmas dinners I have ever had. The staff were excellent.
I have been visiting the Unicorn now for the best part of two years and have brought my family to wine and dine on many occasions. The food is fantastic and of course the service. The choice of bitters, beers and wines is great. I would highly recommend the Unicorn to those of us who love good food, location and just some nice and quite.
Very friendly staff and good food and drink - lots of return customers which is a good sign.
Wonderful food and first class staff.Had a wonderful evening overdosing on Three Tunns Cleric's Cure....a very tasty ale
We first popped in as a part of Ale Trail at the Ludlow Food Festival. The atmosphere was so inviting. So my husband and I took our friends with us and we had such a pleasent afternoon there.
Just before Xmas, we went there again, sitting by the fire place and it was so relaxing and pleasent. Although we live about 50miles away, we love this place and this pub is the one of the reason why we love Ludlow!!! Staff is always friendly and atmosphere of the pub is always welcoming.
We spent a very pleasant evening in the Unicorn on December 29th and we really enjoyed the food, warm atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. We'll have to make a return visit when the sausage and mash is back on!
I popped my head through to see if your pub was open a couple of times over the past two years and am pleased to see it's now open again. I'm only hoping that it's as olde worlde as it was before with dark exposed beams and farmhouse style carpets/ brass plates and old chunky framed lithograph prints on the walls and not much done to contemporise an old pub.. see you tonight after my Ludlow Brewery tour!
Just enjoyed a lovely lunch here today. Food is just as described on the website, good quality local produce well cooked and presented. Service was attentive and unobtrusive. Good value for money & well worth the drive from Staffordshire. Would definitely recommend a visit.
